Yog : Stress Reliever for Students

It may come as a surprise to all, but children, adolescents and even
young adults actually find Yoga a fun and even exciting way to
exercise. It involves bending, making faces, balancing so what is there
not to like?

Exercise is a great stress reliever, but we all know that twenty five minutes of gym isn’t exactly what one would call therapeutic. Yoga is an excellent way to unwind, calm nerves, or just take a break from your day. While yoga is physical exercise, it is also mental, allowing your mind to take a break as well. Yoga gives you peace of mind and clarity, which really helps after a long day or before a big test.

Now it may come as an even bigger surprise that yoga is particularly beneficial for students.  There are many reasons, but the most common of all is, yoga helps in ridding the mind and body of stress and builds even greater concentration powers.

It is a non-competitive activity which actually helps people focus on their inner selves. Which means it quietens the mind, helping it focus more_ a facet more essential in todays fast paced and even stimulating world. The powers of attentiveness increase and correspondingly the ability to study well for slightly longer hours. This of course in the long run would mean good grades.

The body becomes fitter, metabolism is stronger and the sense of balance increases. All this means more resistance and better muscle tone, and as the adage goes, it means a fit body is a fitter mind.

Yoga also helps through better breathing practices. This increases the flow of oxygen to the brain, keeping it optimally nourished. In the long run this would actually help in building the neurons of the brain.

A student needs both the active and calm state of mind. Yoga is able to help students find this gentle mid path. Today many forward thinking schools actually benefit by making yoga a part of their curriculum.  It is a trend that we all look forward to.
